Causes
- Windows Firewall is blocking RooiHub communications.
- No one else on your local area network (LAN) is running rooihub.
Solutions
Any one of the following solutions will suffice. Start with the simplest: the first.
- Open the Control Panel in Windows (or run control from the Run prompt). Disable Windows Firewall.
- Create an exception for the RooiHub executable (RooiHub.exe) in Windows Firewall.
- Allow UDP traffic on port 13000 and TCP traffic on port 6667 and 8067 for chat servers.
- Get other people on your LAN to run RooiHub.
Here’s a nice guide on turning off the (useless) Windows Firewall: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/help/bfe523a9-7eec-4d3f-add1-2f68b9cfa1c01033.mspx#EMC
I can see people but I can’t access they’re files or download anything??
I can also see people but cant download anything. Exactly like Kita’s problem
I did all the things above and when I only DC, only the chathub opens and not my local rooihub as well. I did recently download the latest apexdc++ and the latest rooihub. Please help. Thanx
I encountered the same problem after installing rooihub on Windows Vista: I could connect to the chat but I saw just myself in the file sharing tab. I opened all the correct ports (and some more) but to no avail. I tried to add rooihub as an exception in the firewall but windows told me that it’s already added (but it’s not). The only solution I found was to disable the firewall.
Eventually I found that rooihub is actually added as an exception called “Network Related” and it’s not selected. I selected it and now it works with the firewall on!
I have the same problem as madness. when I go onto rooihub, only my name shows and it only connects to the chat server. Please help!

Some people (including me) have problems with rooihub, the server it tries to run from is orion.huisdiv.sun.ac.za . What is the adres of rooihub? since our PC’s was at IT, the problems began.
@Adel, hm. The hosts file on your system, which can redirect certain DNS queries, may have been modified.
On your computer, go to c:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\ and open the hosts file in Notepad. Send its contents to pate@rooihub.co.za and I’ll have a look if there’s something fishy.
Hi, I have turned off windows firewall and I have gone to taskmgr.exe and turned that off but I still get a ‘set of local port failed (bind): no error’ and I can’t see anyone on my DC… everything was working before I did my windows upgrade..
please help
Thanks
Hi Im from tygerberg campus, ive downloaded the programme and it connects to the rooihub, but im the only user on,am i able to connect to the maincampus? is there any settings I need to add/change?
Hi Tygerberg User
You will only see other RooiHub users on your local area network (e.g. on campus, or in your residence)
If your external Internet is enabled, you should be able to connect to the ChatHub, to see the rest of Stellenbosch and chat (but not download from).
Does that help?
